About Us

We Are a cozy tavern in the Heart of Clayton

First Street Tavern, a concept that has been in the works for years. Dave Schearer, founder & operator, has been developing this plan for quite some time.. Seeing other taverns & pubs and working in the industry has helped make First Street Tavern what it is today. The Southern Tradition House, as it is known in Clayton, is a historical home in Downtown Clayton. Built in 1912 it has so much charm and history that it made for the perfect fit for First Street Tavern. A comfortable setting to enjoy a glass of wine, a cold beer, a smooth glass of bourbon and enjoy a delicious flatbread or one of our homemade dips to share… Our “Never Leave a Stranger” motto just describes who we are. When you take the time to come see us we will take the time to know who you are and you will never walk out of our doors a stranger to us.
